Rain Willson
Interdisciplinary Performer
Rain Willson’s artistic inspirations and passions are constantly taking her to new places of extreme creative processes. Starting in the world of musical theatre at the age of 8, Rain has explored various kinds of music, dance, movement forms, theatre, circus, uses of the body, and expressions of the spirit . Decidedly deciding to layer, mold, and build bridges as opposed to choosing an individual specialization, Rain is constantly redefining her art. The ultimate goal always being: sharing meaning, emotional content, sparking thought, effecting changes of the heart, and inspiration. Rain graduated from the College of Santa Fe with a Bachelor Degree in “Performance for Social Change.” She studied aerial arts and physical theatre intensively at Circomedia- Center for contemporary circus and Physical Theatre, in Bristol, England. Also, she recently completed an extensive 9 month Professional Training Circus Program at the New England Center for Circus Arts under the instruction of Elsie Smith and Serenity Forchion, former Cirque de Soleil artists.
Rain worked with the political circus company Wise Fool New Mexico (www.wisefoolnm.org), since 2003, performing, instructing, and producing within the company. In 2006, Rain was one of the founders of The Paper Doll Militia , a company who's mission is to create Aerial Theatre, through emphasis on thoughtful character development, intricate setting, and narrative storytelling; integrated with high skilled aerial work. (www.ThePaperDollMilitia.com) She has created, choreographed and performed in numerous interdisciplinary pieces, most recently appearing in the theatrical production of BALD at Dance Mission Theater.
